HOW TO MEASURE YOUR CUSTOM BLINDS?

SELECT YOUR WINDOW TYPE

WYMO

INTERIOR

For indoor installations,
do not make any deductions.
We'll make the deductions for you.

1
Make sure your window is deep enough to install the chosen product. See the “minimum depth required” section of the product. If your window is not deep enough, you'll need to choose another product or install it outside the frame.
2
Always specify the exact dimensions of your windows when ordering, without making any deductions. We'll adjust them to fit your specific windows. Please note that blinds installed indoors can allow up to ¾" of light to pass between the frame and the blind.

Width: For all products, measure the width at the top, center and bottom of the window, then keep the smallest measurement.

Height: Similarly, measure the height at left, center and right, and retain the smallest dimension.

EXTERIOR

1
Please indicate the exact width and height of your product. It will be custom-made according to these dimensions.
2
Don't forget to add extra height to include the box dimension in your measurements. For installation above the frame, add 1 5/8 “to the total height of the window. (For installation with brackets above the frame, we recommend adding an extra 4” to leave an excess of fabric at the bottom of the window. Does not apply to full-height windows, such as patio doors).
3
The height includes the cassette in the calculation. (The height corresponds to the distance between the top of the cassette and the bottom of the product in the closed position). Note that the alternating blind will lift slightly in the “day” position.
4
If you select the “Exterior (Cassette width)” installation type, the width given will correspond to that of the cassette, while the fabric will be 1 1/8 “narrower. If you select” Exterior (Fabric Width)“, the width given will be that of the fabric, and the cassette will be 1 1/8” wider than the width specified.
5
Watch out for any moldings, handles or locks that could interfere with the installation of your blind. If in doubt, don't hesitate to e-mail us a photo at info@wymo.ca, and we'll be happy to assist you.

Indoor installation

1How to measure
Use a steel tape measure and measure to the nearest eighth of an inch, without rounding. On your note sheet, clearly specify which measurements are width and which are height, as it's easy to reverse them. Always indicate the WIDTH first, followed by the HEIGHT (W x H). For interior installation, do not alter the dimensions of the window opening. We'll make the necessary adjustments.

The height includes the cassette, measured from the top of the cassette to the bottom of the blind in the closed position. Note that the alternating blind will rise slightly in the “day” position.
2Is indoor installation the right choice for your window?
Before you start taking measurements, make sure that interior installation is possible, and check that nothing (mouldings, handles or locks) obstructs the blind.
Interior installation is generally recommended for an uncluttered look. However, exterior installation can visually enlarge the window or hide an unsightly frame. For interior installation, the depth of the frame must be at least 1 1/2 “to accommodate the brackets. If you opt for exterior installation, add a minimum of 2 1/2” to the total dimension for wall brackets.

Blinds will be custom-made to your dimensions. If they are incorrect, recutting charges will apply if the blind is too large. So take your time when measuring, and don't hesitate to contact us if in doubt.
3Tip
Your windows may not be perfectly straight, which is quite common. If the difference is minimal, this won't be a problem. If it's more significant, consider an outside installation.

FOR INDOOR INSTALLATION

Width: Measure at the top, center and bottom of the window, always to the nearest 1/8", and keep the smallest measurement. Always use steel tape. Height: Measure left, center and right, and keep the smallest dimension.
When you opt for "inside installation", your blind will be slightly reduced to fit inside the frame. Don't make any deductions yourself.

Make sure you have a minimum depth of 1 1/2 “to fix the brackets, and 4” so that the cassette doesn't protrude beyond the window frame.

The height dimension includes the cassette in the height (the height indicates the desired height from the top of the cassette to the bottom of the product in the closed position). Note that the alternating blind will rise slightly when in the “day” position.
Width: For all products, measure the width at the top, center and bottom of the window, then keep the smallest measurement.
Height: Similarly, measure the height at left, center and right, and retain the smallest dimension.

Outdoor installation

1How to measure
Use a steel tape measure and measure to the nearest 1/8 inch. Don't round them off. On your sheet of paper, note width and height measurements separately, as they can easily be reversed. Always indicate the WIDTH first, followed by the HEIGHT (L x H).
2Specific guidelines for taking measurements:
Enter the exact width and height you require for your product, which will be custom-made to these dimensions.

The height includes the cassette (measured from the top of the cassette to the bottom of the blind in the closed position). Note that the alternating blind will lift slightly in the “day” position. If you mount the brackets above the frame, the mounting brackets add 1 5/8 “to the height. (For installation above the frame, we recommend adding 4” to the height to allow for extra fabric at the bottom of the window. Does not apply to full-height windows, such as patio doors).

Add a few inches to the width and height for more privacy and better light blocking. We recommend adding 3" on each side. When choosing "Exterior (Cassette Width)" installation, the width indicated will be that of the cassette, while the fabric will be 1 1/8" narrower. For "Extérieur (Largeur tissu)", the width will correspond to that of the fabric, and the cassette will be 1 1/8" wider than the width indicated.
Be aware of any moldings, handles or locks that could block the blind. If you have any doubts about installation, e-mail us a photo at info@wymo.ca, and we'll be happy to help.
3Tip
When you select the “Exterior (Cassette width)” installation type, the width dimension corresponds to that of the cassette, while the fabric will be 1 1/8 “narrower. If you select” Exterior (Fabric width)“, the width given will be that of the fabric, and the cassette will be 1 1/8” wider. The height includes the cassette, from the top of the cassette to the bottom of the blind in the closed position. Note that the alternating blind will lift slightly in the “day” position.

PATIO DOOR

1Option 2 sur 1 (two canvases on one cassette)
This solution is ideal for covering patio doors or large windows.
The 2 on 1 option is available in all colors when you select the “Fabric-covered rounded corners” cassette. It is also available in white, gray and black with the Half-Moon and Half-Moon fabric-covered cassettes. (To activate the “2 on 1” option, choose one of the above-mentioned cassettes when placing your order. The 2 on 1 option will be offered at the next stage of the order form).

After activating the 2 by 1 option, you can choose between a division into two equal sections or an asymmetrical division. If you opt for an asymmetrical division, you'll be able to specify your dimensions.
Note that there will be a gap of about ¾ inch between the two fabrics in the center.
To measure a product with the 2 on 1 option, please refer to the standard window measuring instructions.
2Tips
Important This option must be selected at the cassette selection stage when ordering.

Bay-Window

1Bay window - Bay
For optimum measurements, we recommend the use of cardboard templates. These templates will simulate the exact space occupied by the product cassette in your window, helping you to avoid overlapping blinds. We use the term “Product Limits” to refer to the width of the cassettes when taking measurements.

Start by determining the dimensions of the templates to be created by consulting the table below. You'll need to know the type of installation and the cassette model chosen for this step. Prepare two cardboard templates, which we'll call “A” and “B”.

To make measuring easier, make your own cardboard templates, taking into account the width and depth of the selected cassette.
2IMPORTANT
For this type of product, always choose “Exterior (cassette width)” installation when ordering, even if the product is installed inside the frame. This avoids any additional deductions on the products.

Before you start measuring, it's essential to determine the product limits. To do this, place the cardboard strips as shown in the plan below. Start by placing strip “A” in the left-hand corner of window #2, then place strip “B” in window #1 until the tips of the two strips meet. Mark where they end. You've now defined the first two product limits for measuring your bay window.
Repeat this process, placing strap “A” in the right-hand corner of window #2, then placing strap “B” in window #3 until the tips meet. Also mark where they end.

For windows #1 and #3, we now need to determine the stop points for products on the opposite side to window #2.

For interior installation, the stop point is located at the opposite end of the “A” strap inside the window frame.

If the installation is on the outside of the frame, you can add width to the product so that the fabric completely covers the molding. To determine this dimension, it's important to know whether the mechanism will be located on the side of the stop point. Refer to the following guide: **Important: when ordering, use installation type: Exterior (cassette width).** This does not apply to interior installations.

Be aware of any moldings, door handles, locks or other elements that may interfere with the blind. If this is the case, please let us know.
1SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAKING MEASUREMENTS :
Use a steel tape measure and measure to the nearest eighth of an inch. Do not round off to the nearest inch. On your note sheet, clearly indicate which measurements correspond to width and which to height. It's easy to confuse the two, so be careful. Always indicate the WIDTH first, followed by the HEIGHT (L x H).
2WIDTH
Once all product boundaries have been established, simply measure from one boundary to the other for each product. For all windows, measure the width from the product boundary on the left to the one on the right. Measure to the nearest eighth of an inch. Don't forget to select the “Exterior (cassette width)” installation type when ordering.
3HEIGHT
For installation inside the frame, follow this guide: measure the height at three different points (left, center and right) and keep the smallest dimension.
For installation outside the frame, you can add height to the product by referring to the instructions for measuring a standard window. The height includes the cassette in the measurement (the desired height is that from the top of the cassette to the bottom of the product in the closed position). Note that the alternating blind will rise slightly in the “day” position. For above-frame mounting, the height of the mounting brackets is 1 5/8 “. If you are installing the brackets above the frame, we recommend adding an extra 4” to the height to allow for extra fabric at the bottom of the window (this does not apply to floor-level windows, such as patio doors).

Corner window

1IMPORTANT
When you're faced with a corner window, it can pose privacy problems due to the gaps created by the junction of the products. To alleviate this problem, consider installing a product that will protrude slightly beyond the one that follows it. We understand that measuring can be more complex in this case, but we're here to help.

As each corner window is often unique, we recommend that you send us an e-mail with a photo of your window, so that we can help you more effectively at info@wymo.ca.

French door

1Width
Measure width including window moldings and add 1". Don't forget to select "Exterior (Fabric Width)" when ordering.
2Height
Measure total height, including window mouldings. If height permits, add 4". (During installation, the mounting brackets will be positioned just above the top moulding).
3IMPORTANT
For width, be sure to add extra space to fully cover the window molding. Make sure you also allow enough space for the door handle, without it coming into contact with the product.

For French doors, the simplest method is to select the "Exterior (Fabric width)" installation type. In this case, the width indicated will correspond to that of the fabric, while the cassette will be 1 1/8" wider. This will enable you to determine precisely the width you require for the fabric. We generally recommend adding ½ “” of extra fabric on each side of the window mouldings.

With regard to height, since the mounting brackets will be installed above the window molding, it is essential to add at least the space required for their attachment. The height of the brackets is 1 5/8 “”. If you install the brackets above the molding, we suggest you add a total of 4" to the height to allow for extra fabric at the bottom of the window. Note that the alternating blind will raise slightly when in the "day" position.

All products can be installed on wood or metal surfaces. For metal doors, you'll probably need self-drilling screws specially designed for this material.
